Coinbase CEO Challenges Twitter CEO Elon Musk
Coinbase co-founder and CEO Brain Armstrong recently challenged Twitter CEO Elon Musk over his call for a 6-month moratorium on the development of advanced AI solutions like ChatGPT. Armstrong believes such a move will stifle innovation, arguing that the „marketplace of ideas leads to better outcomes than central planning.“ He is an advocate for new technology and a user of OpenAI’s ChatGPT application which Coinbase uses to review securities tokens in order to meet regulatory requirements.
ChatGPT Under Scrutiny
OpenAI’s ChatGPT application has been subject to increased criticism from UNESCO, tech leaders, including Tesla and Twitter’s Elon Musk, as well as American regulators. The tool records more than 100 million users within few months since its release but it has been accused of giving inaccurate responses to some very important political and social queries.
Good Outweighs Bad
In spite of these criticisms, Armstrong stands by his support for AI applications like ChatGPT as he believes that the good outweighs the bad. He encourages progress instead of fear and dismisses any attempt at „capturing control in some central authority“. He claims that committees or bureaucracy will not solve any issues related to this matter but advocates for „the marketplace of ideas“ which he believes leads to better outcomes than centralized planning.
Advocate Of New Tech
Brian Armstrong is an advocate for new technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications such as ChatGPT. He is also a user since Coinbase uses it in order to review securities tokens according their regulatory requirements.
